Cross-Country Skiing School
Cross-country skiing is one of the most practiced sports in Finland and for many Finns the way to relax in nature. You will learn the basics of cross-country skiing (classic technique) before your guide takes you into the beautiful winter nature of Paljakka
Your guided tour starts with meeting your guide. First we will put everybody’s snowshoe equipment in order. Next there will be some brief information on the theory and history of snowshoeing and we will go to the start of the trail. The route passes through the forest and the guide will tell you about the forest’s inhabitants and natural environment. Please remember to dress according the weather (e.g. warmly outdoor clothing and winter shoes).
Husky Safari - Dog Sledding Rides in the Beautiful Natural Setting of Paljakka
Wild spruce forests in Paljakka are perfect for action packed sledge dog safaris. After safety instructions and driving basics (which are easy) you are ready to go with your guide into the snow-white wilderness. Let the snow get into your face. Both of you sharing the sledge will be riding, half of the time you sit and enjoy the ride and half of the way you will be driving!. The safari is accompanied by an experienced guide
Reindeer Farm Visit - A Glimpse into the Lives of Reindeer and Herders
You meet your guide at Paljakka Safari House and he takes you to the local reindeer farm by bus / minibus. The farm is located 45 min drive from Paljakka resort center. The program includes meeting the reindeers. Everyone will have the opportunity to feed the reindeers. We also enjoy hot drinks (water/coffee/tea) by the camp fire where the reindeer herder will tell us more about the life of a reindeer, reindeer husbandry and life on the ranch.
Snowmobiling for Beginner
Riding a snowmobile for the first time can be intimidating, but fear no more. After this experience, you will know all the safety information and driving basics. Once you’ve learnt the basic rules, which are easy, you will be ready to go out into the snow-covered wilderness together with your guide. You may be the driver or let your guide to be your chauffeur. The driving route goes along a well-groomed track to the top of the nearby hill where you can take some stunning panoramic photos.
Ice-Fishing with a Unique Forellibaari Experience
Paljakka has come up with a new, comfortable way of ice-fishing, a traditional Finnish fishing method, where you will stay protected from the winter weather. At Paljakka Fishing Park, you can practice ice-fishing in an igloo-shaped, snow-white tent (Forellibaari) while sitting comfortably in a camping chair. With an experienced guide by your side, ice-fishing is a pleasant experience. You will quickly learn the ice-fishing tricks from the guide, while you tempt the fish to take the bait!

The silence and peace of the forest and clear night skies free of light pollution are an unforgettable experience. This guided photography tour is aimed for anyone interested in improving their photography skills. The wintry nature with snow-covered trees and different shades of blue at dusk create a magnificent surrounding for photography. This excursion is run by an experienced and awarded nature photographer.
Life in a local Reindeer farm
Visit a local reindeer farm where you will get a warm welcome and meet our lovely reindeer herder family. In the farm you will get familiazired the local life of reindeer herders and have the opportunity to feed the reindeers. Every animal is owned by a herder. While listening to their stories about life on the farm, we will enjoy hot drinks by the campfire. Visit to a local reindeer farm offer a great possibility for taking photos and experiencing authentic wilderness life.
Making Delicious Local Disces
The great alternative to experience finnish culture and nature is making your own dinner of local clean ingredients. On the course we prepare pure Finnish food from the ingredients of the season. Experienced chef go over the recipes quickly before the cooking starts, gives you the practical instructions and together you will prepare your dinner. The fish from the nearest lake or rapids, meat from the local hunters, vegetables, berrys, mushrooms and herbs from the forest nearby, all these pure ingredients gives special flavours to the 3-course finnish dinner.
